We went to eat at Restaurante Rufaco and, although we hadn’t booked and the dining room was full (so we had to wait a little), it was absolutely worth it. We ordered the set menu, which offers fantastic value for money. It includes a drink (wine or a soft drink), a starter, a main course, and dessert or coffee. It’s the perfect place to enjoy authentic traditional Cantabrian food in a superb setting. We opted for classic dishes, but we saw that house favorites like cocido montañés, with its generous helping of beans and chickpeas, and a juicy Spanish omelet are very popular and look spectacular. What really makes this meal different and special is the location. The spacious dining room, with its large windows and oak details, offers beautiful views of the valley and a meadow where you can see horses and cows grazing peacefully. It’s a rustic, well-kept, and very relaxing setting. To finish, a homemade dessert such as cuajada, or a good glass of the house orujo to help with digestion, is the perfect finishing touch. Highly recommended for enjoying nature and good food. Just don’t forget to book a table so you can enjoy these views at your leisure!

A lovely place with a set lunch menu. Everything was delicious. I didn’t even get a chance to take a photo of the dessert because we couldn’t resist trying it. The waiters were very friendly and attentive, and we barely had to wait at all. In short, we’ll definitely be back ❤️

We came across this restaurant while exploring the Soba Valley. It has a very welcoming terrace next to the Gándara zip line. We had made a reservation and arrived early. There were two of us, and we had the set menu of the day, with exceptional views. You can choose ribeye steak from the set menu for an extra charge, and that’s what we did. The waiters were very efficient and friendly. The dining room was full, but the atmosphere was very peaceful. It was quite hot outside, but we enjoyed a comfortable meal in the air conditioning.

Wonderful set menu for €25, €30 or €35, depending on which main course you choose. We ordered a variety of dishes to try a bit of everything, and it was all delicious. The service and hospitality were excellent. It’s well worth visiting the source of the Asón River first and then enjoying a delicious meal. The portions are very generous and the desserts are delicious. If possible, book a table on the terrace, as the views are well worth it.

I drove my parents along the beautifully scenic mountain road from Arredondo to this wonderful restaurant where the food was both hearty and delicious. A real Spanish taste of local cuisine at its best. Starters of fish stew with beans and red beans with chorizo and black pudding were incredible but I'd recommend you share as the portions are generous. We all had oxtail stew for our mains as it's our favourite and we weren't disappointed but there is plenty to choose for all tastes. Lots of lovely desserts and wine, water and bread were also included in the set price of £25 euros each I would highly recommend the restaurant and the trip in the mountains with incredible views just made it a perfect day out. The staff were very busy but helpful and friendly. If you don't speak Spanish maybe ask for the WiFi to translate the wonderful menu

We stayed for a few days in La Gandara so visited here a few times. The bartender was really friendly and helpful - particularly as we spoke so little Spanish. The other staff were also friendly and efficient. The lunch menu was delicious and really great value. We highly recommend this bar/restaurant.
